Men's Wimbledon Tennis Betting

Most interest in Wimbledon tennis betting focuses on the mens championship as this tends to be more competitive. This year it looks as if it's going to be as close as ever. The two top contenders are Roger Federer, the current Wimbledon champion, and Rafael Nadal, last year's runner-up.

Roger Federer is the number one seed, the master on grass and five times Wimbledon winner. However, his form has been inconsisent over the past year and he suffered a crushing defeat recently at the hands of Nadal on the clay courts of the French Open at Roland Garros. His record on grass is undeniably impressive with 59 consecutive grass-court matches without defeat. Coincidentally, his most recent title win was on grass at the Gerry Weber ATP Open in Halle which will be a welcome boost to his confidence.

Rafael Nadal is the young pretender to the title at 22 years old. Although clay is considered to be his best surface he still took Federer to 5 sets in last year's Wimbledon final. He has grown in strength, skill, and most importantly, grass-court confidence over the past year. His first title win on grass was at this month's Artois tournament at Queen's club so he enters Wimbledon on a high.

Close behind the two the top seeds are Djokovic, and Andy Roddick, both of them capable of beating the current champion Federer if he's not playing to his very best. British hopes centre on Scot Andy Murray who is seeded twelfth.

Women's Wimbledon Tennis Betting

The women's title winner is more difficult to predict. The Wimbledon seedings mirror the current world rankings this year as no player's grass credentials necessitate a change. Two Serbs, Ana Ivanovic and Jelena Jankovic, head the seedings with former winner Maria Sharapova seeded third. The Williams sisters, Serena and Venus, are always great competitors at Wimbledon and are seeded six and seven respectively.

Ladbrokes the bookmakers disagree with the official seedings and rate both Sharapova and Serena Williams as more likely winners than top seed Ana Ivanovic.
